How Credit Unions Support Lorain County Manufacturing
Celebrating Manufacturing Month in Lorain County
In Lorain County, the hum of manufacturing isn’t background noise. It’s the heartbeat!
From RIDGID in Elyria to Camaco in Lorain, from Bettcher Industries in Wellington to Thogus Products in Avon Lake, factories and workshops shape both the economy and the community. October’s Manufacturing Month is about celebrating these companies, their workers, and the families who keep Lorain County’s economy growing.
Manufacturers Drive Growth in Lorain and Elyria - and Beyond
Manufacturers create jobs, train apprentices, and push innovation forward.
RIDGID has trained generations of skilled workers locally while shipping tools worldwide.
Bettcher’s precision blades support food industries globally while supporting hundreds of families. Many companies like these remind us that when Lorain County makes, the world takes notice.
And the future looks even brighter. Lorain County recently partnered with JobsOhio and Team NEO to launch a 1,000-acre Mega Site aimed at attracting one large-scale manufacturing company to set up shop in the heart of Lorain County.
The Connection Between Manufacturing Jobs and Financial Stability
Behind every production line is a worker balancing more than just torque wrenches and welds. Paychecks must stretch, cars need repairs, and kids need tuition.
The strength of manufacturing from Lorain to Elyria, and from Amherst and Avon, depends as much on the financial well-being of workers as it does on the equipment on the shop floor.
How Credit Unions Support Manufacturing Workers
Credit unions have backed manufacturing workers for over a century.
The first U.S. credit union opened in 1909 in Manchester, New Hampshire. It provided fair loans and safe savings for workers toiling in textile mills along the Merrimack River.
That mission continues today for workers who power Lorain County’s factories:
A machinist in Lorain might need an affordable auto loan to keep their commute reliable.
A welder in Elyria might want to finance night classes without piling on high-interest credit card debt.
These everyday financial needs are what credit unions were built to meet.
Lower loan rates, fewer fees, and personalized guidance aren’t extras. They’re the foundation that helps manufacturing families stay strong financially.
Building Financial Success for the People Who Build Lorain County
Manufacturing jobs in Lorain and Elyria are growing again, but financial stability at home fuels success at work.
Affordable financial services are tools, just like a precision lathe or welding rig. They keep households running steady, which in turn keeps the production line moving.
Every pay raise, every apprenticeship, every new hire at manufacturing companies ripples through the community. And every time a family gets ahead financially, it strengthens the labor foundation manufacturers rely on.
Supporting Local Manufacturing, Supporting Local Families
This October, when you see banners celebrating Manufacturing Month, remember who they honor: the generations of builders, welders, designers, and machinists of Lorain County.
Credit unions stand behind them, ensuring their hard-earned wages work as hard as they do.
At Achieve Credit Union, we’re proud to serve the people who make Lorain County strong.
